Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 109

My card for this challenge was inspired by everything made by the Design Team this week!
I couldn't find a stamp I liked with any of the papers I was considering so I made a card without a stamped front!

Artfully Sent ~ Father's Day card

The CTHM Cricut Artfully Sent cartridge has a lot of pop up cards with fun images.
But sometimes you don't want a pop up  card. I wanted to use this cool looking vintage car on the front of my dad's card so I just cut the banner piece twice and cut out the car. I used the CTMH thin foam tape to adhere the car.
The great looking background paper is the CTMH Fundamentals Basics paper assortment. These papers have a tone on tone glossy side and are printed in two contrasting shades the other side.
And remember! In case you don't have a stamp set with the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment, one of the stamp sets included with the cartridge has one! How easy is that!

Reflections - bottom border pattern

This is a very simple layout from Jeanette Lynton's Reflections how to book that lets your photo shine.
The date is cut on the Cricut using the CTMH Artiste font.
The bamboo paper is a sheet of Basic Fundamentals. The shinny side is embossed with hearts and the reverse side I used behind the journaling is printed with white hearts.
The trims I used are a zip strip from the Seaside papers and some woven jute trim. Woven trims sometimes ravel or stretch. To help control this I stabilize the trim by adding double sided red tape that will be the adhesive.

Sweet Symphony

Seems that most of my family takes photos with their phones and posts them on Facebook. So when I see pictures I really like I just save and print for traditional scrapbooking!
A long time ago I realized these kids loved looking at old picture albums when the pictures were of them! So every Christmas I give them new scrapbook pages to add to their albums!
This 2 page layout pattern is from the Close to My Heart Imagine book. I switched the left and right pages and I turned the page with the boys pictures 45 degrees so I could use portrait images.
If you would like a free pdf copy of this pattern from Imagine send me a quick email with your mailing address.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #106

There are a couple things I like about this card, it was made with scraps that were sitting out on my table and it can be used for a variety of occasions, birthday, thinking of you or even a sympathy card. There is a lot of "white space" after stamping the image of the lighthouse, but adding some sponging quickly fills it in. You could get real fancy with color if you wanted to and do a couple shades of blue sponging in the background for the sea and the sky.
Be sure you visit the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog to see all of the great creations this week. Here's the sketch, hope you're inspired to create something and join the challenge!

Spring in the Northwest!

You might remember my spring preview of pictures I took in Post Falls... well here is the layout I created with them.
Scrapbooking seems to be a little more fun when I combine elements using different tools and techniques.
The Spring title, the journaling tag, and the butterflies were cut with my Cricut. I wanted to turn the embossed photo mounts sideways so I could line up the stems on the vines. I also used the little cut out piece with the leaves from the journaling tag by tucking it behind one of the photo mounts and adding some gems.

Products Used are all CTMH:
Artbooking cartridge
Art Philosophy cartridge
Vines embossing folder
Brushed paperpack
Paper Fundamentals Whimsy assortment
Brushed metal flowers
Gold Gems

Junk Journal!

Junk Journals are fun to make! I wanted this one to have a bit of a vintage look, even though some of my pages inside have a more modern look because I used some PML cards. One of the things I like about Junk Journals is just using whatever you have that you like, and being completely random with your choices.
My cover is cut with the 5 key on the Cricut Artbooking cartridge. I've used a couple different punches for the edges of some of the inside pages. Some of my pages have stamping and I've added washi tapes to a few pages. The Kraft paper cover will show wear on the edges as I use this journal and that is what I expect, it will add to the vintage feel of the book.
This journal has 16 pages, some with pockets and some with pull out tags so it got a little chunky. To photograph it for this blog post I grabbed a clothes pin that was sitting on my craft table and decided I like the look!
Junk Journals can be bound with anything you like, hemp like I've used here, or ribbon or cord. I've found that no matter what I am going to bind the journal with my best results for getting it ready are to stack up all my pages just where I want them, use binder clips to hold them in place and use my Crop-a-dile to punch holes for the ribbon or cord...
And remember to always decorate the back cover too! I did a little stamping and adhered a cut out...
Your junk journal can be used for anything. Sometimes I use one for documenting a trip or a special event. I always make sure I have spaces to add photos, journaling, and keepsakes.
