AHSC # 492 - Fall Vintage Series - Hello

This is my favorite card in this series! Layering the overlay on top of the banner strips and the tags on top of the overlay worked out perfectly!

My tip for fine cut overlays: use glue dots to assemble your card. There are micro glue dots on the outside from of the overlay then I used large glue dots behind the tags and the paper dots in the top corner.

Celebration

Last year I celebrated 15 years with Close to My Heart and received a wooden plaque with 5, 10 & 15 year wooden hearts as an award. It's now decorated and ready to hang in my craft room.

AHSC # 482 - In Full Bloom Series - Birthday

This looks pretty fancy but it's actually pretty simple! The cluster of flowers is cut from a printed scrapbook paper so I didn't have to stamp & color. This is what I call working smart! The stitched circle seemed like the perfect compliment to the plaid backgroud paper.

AHSC # 479 - Happy 4th of July!

4th of July in the US will be upon us soon & now that we live in Nevada I send cards to a few friends and family we used to spend the holiday with.

This week Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge is again partnering with the Double Trouble blog challenge to create a card with the AHSC sketch and the "create your own background " challenge from Double Trouble. My card base has been sanded on the edge to add a little texture and the white background was dry embossed with a heart embossing folder. I wanted to use 3 fun pieces for the circle elements, so I cut a heart from glitter paper, cut a circle from a heart pattern paper and stamped the 4th of July image and trimmed it out. I thought these layered together well.

I hope you’ll be inspired to create something with this week’s sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and share it on their blog. Details for the Double Trouble challenge are in this link too.

AHSC # 477 - Kind Words

This week's sketch is so fun! The secret is finding a texture and creating some layers. The stripe paper I used with the honeycomb die cut made this easy. I used gold shimmer brush on the bumble bee for just a little more texture. I also decided to use the square format from the sketch. I'm not concerned about not having a square envelope for this card because it will be tied on a gift bag.

AHSC # 475 - Love Story Series - Mink

Don't let the busy background of this week's sketch discourage you from creating something. Instead let your imagination take over! The CTMH Mink Love Story papers included the pretty zip strip I mounted for the band under the flowers on this card. I inked the edges of the flower blooms and the leaves with a dark green ink and finished the card by brushing just a bit of clear sparkle on the blooms.

AHSC # 474 - Classic Guy

The sketch this week is one that has so many possibilities! I really love how this card came out. The backside of this woodgrain paper is what I used to stamp the truck image and I think it came out perfect for that vintage look.

AHSC # 469

My card this week is really simple. Sometimes I like sticking to black and white with my sewing and my art, photography and in this case my card making! The tiny black butterfly and heart die cuts are mounted with foam dots.

# 467 - In Full Bloom Series - Happy Birthday

I'm really happy with the way this card came out.

The CTMH In Full Bloom Series papers are so easy to work with!

AHSC # 466 - In Full Bloom Series - Heartfelt Thanks

This sketch was really fun to work with! My background is pieced from a PML card in the CTMH Full Bloom collection. The stacked hearts are from the die cuts that come with the Full Bloom collection but these can easily be cut on a Cricut machine.

I hope you’ll be inspired to try this week’s sketch and share your creation with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog.

AHSC # 464 In Full Bloom Series - Thanks

I haven't made a square card in along time so it was fun to find I still had some square envelopes in my stash! My envelopes are 5.5 inches so I made my card 5.25 inches to be sure it will fit in the envelope. I love all of the layers in the sketch and wanted to capture each one in my finished card. Again, I've mixed paper collections with white shimmer trim, black sequins and hearts from the In Full Bloom die cuts.

AHSC # 463 - Full Bloom Series - Hello

I am having so much fun with this month's Atlantic Hearts Sketches and the new Close to My Heart In Full Bloom paper collection! And discovering I have papers from previous CTMH collections that pair perfectly with the new In Full Bloom is really exciting!

Moving to the Nevada high desert after living my entire life in Southern California has given me a new appreciation for spring. Seeing the first leaves bud out on the trees in our backyard now gives a sense of renewal I haven't felt before.

I hope the impending arrival of spring this year will revive your soul and inspire you to pull out some pretty papers and create something that makes you smile.

Here is this week's AHSC sketch .......

AHSC # 461 - Full Bloom Series - Dream

This is one of my favorite stamps but I don't seem to use it often. For this card I sponged the edges and the leaves of the flower then I used colored pencils to lightly color the flower in blue and the very lightly penciled he background in tan. I used just my finger to smudge the pencil coloring. The butterflies are stamped directly on the background paper.

AHSC # 460 - Full Bloom Series - Thanks

My card this week is pretty simple. I was excited to receive the new CTMH Full Bloom products because I realized they coordinate perfectly with some of my favorite papers from the past! In the coming weeks you will see how I've created cards combining the new stamps and papers with many of my old favorites.

AHSC # 459 - Life is sweeter....

I have a new pack of PML cards and when I saw this filmstrip image, I knew I had to use it for the sketch this week! The background is also a PML card. The black dots on my card are punched from shimmer trim. I have a friend who did me a special favor yesterday and I can't wait to send her this card!               You'll notice that my card doesn't exactly follow the sketch, but it was truly inspired by the sketch!

AHSC # 455

I love this week's sketch! It's always fun to add a cluster of flowers to a textured background so that's what I've done. The white lattice background was cut on the Cricut from white pearl cardstock. The white flower has been painted with a shimmer brush. I haven't added a sentiment yet so I'll be able to use this as a birthday or a thank you card.

AHSC # 454 Best Wishes

The sketch this week has so many possibilities. The blank squares in the sketch can be anything. I've paired Sage papers with Mocha cardstock and a piece of ribbon to create my card.
