AHSC # 238 - Joy

This week I wanted to make a holiday card with the sketch and ideas were just not coming to me until I saw this embossing folder. Then I knew exactly what I was going to do! I used the new Espresso paper for my pinecones but it just wasn't giving me the dark color I wanted so I took the ShinHan Bronze (BR99) marker and traced over the pinecone cutouts.

I hope you'll decide to join AHSC this week, here's the sketch to get you started...

AHSC #236 - Yappy Birthday!

This card was so much fun to make! I love the Punny Pals stamp set! And the sketch make this card quick to put together because all I did was cover my card base with the black check paper then add the strips of shimmer trim. I cut a pentagon for a dog house to put behind the puppy and added the sentiment.
I hope you'll join AHSC this week and submit something you create, it doesn't  have to be a card, anything the sketch inspires is welcome.

Here is this week's sketch...

AHSC #234

Sketch is a little challenging but a lot of fun! Sitting on my craft table I had some leftover vellum leaves that I decided to use for my image. Behind the leaf with the gold overlay are 2 smaller vellum leaves I decided to attach with my Xyron. I'm not sure if I would use this technique again or not. I love the new CTMH bow die cut! This has been attached with mini glue dots.
I hope you'll decide to join AHSC this week.

Tips for using vellum...

Tip #1..cut your images with a fine point blade.
Tip #2...run the gold overlay through your Xyron and adhere to the vellum.

Tip #3... for the card you see below I used mini glue dots at the bottom and top if each leaf to attached them to the card front.

Sometimes a birthday card becomes a book!

This week my nephew Jason celebrated his 21st birthday. Sensing this may be my last chance to be sure I've shared all the wisdom and encouragement I want him to always remember I decided to make him a little book. By design there are 21 pages. These are the times I'm grateful for my stash of stamps I've accumulated over the past 11 years!
From now until Feb there will be 3 more young birthdays ranging in age from 12 to 19, this book was so much fun to do I'm going to make one for the other 3 kids too!
My cover was inspired by this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch and was the perfect design. I left the chipboard "raw" for the casual guy look I wanted and choose the red stripe paper since red has always been Jason's favorite color.
Happy 21st Jason!
Hugs,
Aunt Patty

AHSC 232

I really love the sketch this week so I decided to follow it exactly. In my stamp stash I found a border stamp that matched perfectly. I used the shamrock on the Flower Market cartridge but only cut the pop up leaves. I cut them from the new 2 tone cardstock so I could layer them for the alternate dark / light effect. To finish it off I punch a circle from silver foil paper and stamped my sentiment.

I hope you will be inspired to join this week's AHSC, here is the sketch...
