AHSC # 192 - Uptown

This card was inspired by the challenge but once I decided on a shiny card with sparkle I think I got a little off track. The gold and white stripe paper in the Uptown Fundamental paper collection called to me. Then I decided my focus image would be the chrysanthemum from the Flower Market Cricut cartridge. The background of the flower is the velum paper with gold dots. Since I haven't added a sentiment to the front of the card I can easily use this for a birthday card, a thank you card of even a Happy New Year's card.

Here is the sketch for this week. Remember, to visit the AHSC blog to see all of the great creations submitted this week.

Atlantic Heart's Sketch Challenge # 184

For the challenge this week I decided to make a layout. I've mixed papers from a few collections to get the look and colors I wanted for this layout. I have several more pictures from our anniversary trip to Catalina Island to scrapbook still so I wanted an island look and colors from the ocean.
Please take a look at the AHSC blog to see what everyone else has created this week.

And if you'd like to give the challenge a try here's the sketch...

Dare to make something different - you might be a winner!

Last week when I looked at the AHSC sketch I knew I could make a really pretty card, but it was time to make a card for my nephew's upcoming birthday. So instead of a "pretty" card I challenged myself to create something that would appeal to a 20 year old guy - and my card was chosen as one of the top 3 cards!
So take time to create & challenge yourself!
Hugs to all,
Patty

AHSC #175 Blessed

Here's my card made for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. I used the Sept SOM and the Oh Deer papers. The sketch calls for an embellishment in the lower corner but I decided to use one of the stamps here instead.

CTMH September Stamp of the Month...Blessed Beyond Measure

Fall crafting is some of my favorite to do! I love the browns & greens & oranges of the season & it's probably my most favorite season of the year. The CTMH Sept Stamp of the Month has a beautiful font with heartwarming sentiments and lots of fall foliage images.

The circle cut on this card was done on the Cricut. The leaves were also cut on the Cricut then stamped, sponged and finally I used the shimmer brush to add the warm glow you see.

This stamp set is only available during the month of Sept so get yours now!

AHSC # 174 - Sunflower!

This sunflower is one of my very favorites on the Flower Market Cricut cartridge! For the flower center I used a background stamp then brushed with the shimmer pen.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge # 173 - Hello!

I often feel color challenged when I have to put together 3 or more colors. When this happens I start with one color I really like, then look for the compliments. I think the new Raspberry color is one of my favorites! And I love the new Sea Glass! This card would have a completely different look if the card background were gray or raspberry so when you are using multiple colors be sure you try different combinations for your pieces.
Now please go visit Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog to see what others have created with this week's sketch!

Happy Heart

These are some of the new papers from the Basics collections. Today I am playing with the new Sea Glass pigment ink and the Happy Heart stamp set. This is an A size stamp set so that means it's only $6.95. There are 3 sentiments and 2 sizes of hearts. So lots of possibilities!
TIP: Stamping with pigment ink is a little different with each paper type you stamp on. When stamped on White Daisy CS your stamp will be a tiny bit slippery so be sure you take care to avoid smearing the ink. There will also be a little bit of waiting time for the ink to dry. When stamping on the B&T paper the drying time is very short, and when stamping on Kraft CS the ink dries instantly!

Gift Wrapping...

I love pretty packages! I needed a 3 x 3 x 1 box for this gift, so I used my craft supplies and made my own box!
I incorporated 4 new CTMH products into the design.
The wood slats embossing folder is perfect to use with Kraft cardstock.
I punched some leaves from the new Seaglass cardstock and cut a flower with the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.
The center of the flower is made with Seaglass Glitter paper.
TIP: If you want your gift to be easy to open, only wrap the twine one direction so it can be slipped off the package.

Close to My Heart just introduced a new Cricut Cartridge - Flower Market!

This pretty bouquet of chrysanthemums is cut from White Daisy cardstock and attached to wire stems. The centers are colored with a marker and highlighted with the shimmer brush.
TIP: to give the flowers some extra volume use glue dots to adhere the layers and don't skip any of the layers!
Buy it here!

Colorado

In 2015 our niece Lindsey moved to Colorado with her family and it seems like she posted a picture almost every day on Facebook of one of her kids or a family outing. I saved the photos and printed them to create a scrapbook for her. They are all back in California now & her scrapbook is almost done. If you decide to create scrapbook pages with Facebook photos, be sure you also copy the text posted with the photos so you'll have the complete post including the journaling for your layout.

This is one of those pictures that tells a story all by itself. So I wanted to keep the page simple but interesting. I used one of the new Florance papers for the background and left the zip strip attached at the top. To fill the "white space" below the picture I cut some leaves on the Cricut, I really don't like a lot of "white space" on my layouts even though that scrapbook method is trending right now. I kept the layout colors neutral so the beautiful photo would pop. I also used foam tape to mount the photo on the page. The leaves area attached with tiny glue dots so they appear to be floating on the page.

Thank you Lindsey for allowing me to share your beautiful pictures, we are so glad you are back in California!

Hugs,

Aunt Patty

AHSC # 159 with Magical!

I took a flip flap scrapbooking class from the wonderful Cindy Baker that used the Magical paper collection and now I'm having fun making cards with these papers! I'm on a bit of a mission to use the entire package of compliments embellishments.

To create this card I used the shapes in the AHSC design and adhered the glitter star with some foam tape.

TIP: If you have a Cricut Explore the circle and star are basic shapes you just need to size on your mat and cut. My circle is 3.8 " and my star is 1.8 "

Here is this weeks AHSC sketch...

Happy Times & family

This simple layout is really fine just as you see it here - but I had one more really cute photo.
So I added a 4 x 4 flip flap...

I tied some twine and attached my page title, & when you lift up the flip flap....

you see my hidden photo and sentiment!

Thank you Lindsey for letting me share the photos of your beautiful family.

Hugs,

Patty

AHSC # 158 with Happy Times!

I love the window effect in this week's challenge. I choose some Happy Times papers and had this made in no time. The CTMH Fern ink was the perfect compliment to these papers. These aren't colors I usually choose but they actually look great together.

Here's the sketch for this week...

AHSC # 157 & Florence!

I've been busy getting ready for a craft fair that was held earlier today so now that the event is over I'm back to play with this week's Atlantic Heart's Sketch Challenge!
And I'm also excited to tell you that the paper and stamp you see here is from the new CTMH Seasonal Expressions catalog that will be available tomorrow!

The floral bouquet cut out is done with one of the Thin Cut die sets. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink for stamping and colored with the Shinhan markers. The foil tape and sequins are the new Rose Gold color and the papers are from the new Florence paper collection.

TIP: I don't like the ties on my cards to be bulky so I split the two ply  thick twine and only used one ply.

There's still time to create your own project for this week's challenge, here's the sketch...

Canvas Art # 2

Here is another canvas. I'm much more pleased with this one!
The border of the canvas is painted with gold metallic paint. The scallop border on the left was cut on the Cricut and I love the ribbon rose border next to it.The butterfly body was cut from gold glitter paper and the overlay is the same glossy cardstock as the scallop border.
One of the things I love about creating these projects is I won't be able to make the exact same on twice. The background paper and the ribbon roses were the last of this paper and ribbon.
I hope I'm inspiring you to go create something of your own!
Hugs,
Patty

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #150

I've been working on a wedding project this week for a friend and these stamps seemed perfect for this week's AHSC sketch. When you stamp on the same background paper that you use for your card base, then frame the stamped image, you get a bit a of a "window" effect on your project. Please visit the AHSC blog and see what everyone else creates this week!

I hope you'll be inspired to submit your own creation. Here's the sketch...

AHSC # 148

My card for this challenge is a combination of textures that was easily created by using the Penelope papers. I started by sanding the edges of the Crystal Blue cardstock, embossed a piece of White Daisy with the diamond embossing folder, added a piece of shimmer trim and then popped the stamped image with foam tape.

Now head over to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog and see everything else created with this week's sketch, and! you still have time to enter your own creation so play along!

AHSC #147 & Penelope

I decided to use the Penelope papers for my card this week, and I actually choose the Picture My Life sheet from the pack. The Picture My Life sheets are 12 x 12 papers complete with a zip strip, which I also used on my card! Here's what it looked like before I started cutting...

I also needed to decide what sizes to cut my pieces so I started with a piece of graph paper and made a pattern...

The background paper is also from the Penelope collection. I finished off my card with a Happy Easter sentiment and some gold puffies.
So many ideas came to mind when I saw this sketch and the Design Team at Atlantic Hearts made some awesome projects so be sure you visit their blog!
Here's the sketch...

Canvas Art #1

I've been wanting to try some mixed media art for some time now. This Lucille Ball quote is one of my favorite birthday quotes & since I needed to make a birthday gift a couple weeks ago I decided it was time to create Canvas Art #1.

This is by no means perfect but it was a great learning experience. As I create my canvas pieces I will share them here and also share with you what I find that doesn't work! The technique on this canvas that did not work very successfully was the strips of washi tape applied directly to the canvas. The stamping on the canvas was a little more difficult than I thought it would be so I will do some research before I create my next canvas. TIP: If you paint your canvas with white gesso, you can go back and paint over your stamping if you decide to. I didn't paint over any of mine on this piece, I just stopped stamping in the lower corner before it got too messy!

The quote is printed on a piece of scrapbook paper that I ran through my printer. I was concerned with where the print was actually going to be on the canvas and I didn't make the signature a smaller size font, I wish I had!

I hope you'll follow my journey as I explore this medium and hopefully get a little better with my techniques! Please feel free to leave me a comment.
Hugs!
Patty

Paper Bouquet!

Don't buy your Valentine bouquet! Make it! The beautiful CTMH La Vie En Rose papers are perfect for creating something special!
TIP: Use Liquid Glass to attach bamboo skewers to the back of the hearts, you will want to let these dry overnight.  I put a piece of Styrofoam in the little bucket to hold the flowers in place.

AHSC # 146

I think my biggest challenge this week with the sketch was wanting to make something that didn't look like my last few cards! I love the rose pattern paper in the La Vie En Rose collection so I decided to cut out individual roses for my card. The roses and sentiment are all mounted on the card with foam tape to give a little dimension.
Please visit the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog to see all the great cards everyone else makes with this week's sketch...

something just a little fancy!

Every so often I get to make a card that I don't have to mail so I can get a little fancy!
This card was inspired by one I saw on the Cricut website, I just adapted the cuts to similar shapes on the cartridges I own.
The papers, ribbon and gold puffy are all from the CTMH Charlotte collection.
